House Hunters Part II...
How's everyone doing, this week was really great full of cool experiences and fun times.
To start off, our apartment kinda sucks. Hot water doesn't really work because you need sufficient pressure in order for the heater to kick on, and our pressure well let's just say that it's not there. Almost all of our outlets won't work and it mega leaks when there's rain. So we've been on the hunt for a new place. And we finally found one. It's a brand new building that just barely finished construction and the apartments are small but nice. So after some bargaining with the owner we settled on a price and within a week or 2 we will be moving in. Low key very excited.
But aside from that we had a really great week. We met up with this girl named Jazmín who is from a part member family and wants to get baptized so we're in the middle of helping her, we put her on date which was super cool. And thankfully she lives near a super cool member that brings her to church because her mom is a member and wants her daughter to get baptized but doesn't want anything with the church. Which is pretty sad that this little girl doesn't have any support from her family even to do something super great like go to church.
We also found this other little girl named Luz Camila. She's like 14 or something like that and also wants to go to church and get baptized. Her dad is already a member but is now super inactive. So on Saturday we had a lesson with them about the importance of going to church and how much better it would be if this girl had her dad there to be an example for her and help her through this process. At one point the dad was talking trying to find a way to send his daughter to church without him having to go. And I said "how much better would it be if you came and sat with your daughter" and he kinda just stopped and was like "wow that's a good idea" I didn't really know how he was going to respond to what I said but I wasn't expecting that haha. So after this super good lesson we were pumped that they were gonna come and then Sunday roles around and they didn't come which is super sad.
We also met this dude from Germany who married a Paraguayan lady who are super cool. The German guy is very racist toward Latinos which was interesting because of who he chose to marry but I'm not here to judge. The wife though is super cool. She was explaining to us her search for the right church, that she went to a whole bunch of churches before but none of them felt right. She said the Catholic church is full of hypocrites (her words not mine) so she went to other churches for a while and never felt right. So naturally being missionaries like we are we invited her to our church she was super happy and we were all stoked because we know that once she steps inside she'll know. She kept saying that she just wants to help her kids grow up and find a church that can give them a good moral base. On Sunday her husband came, she didn't, but that's OK because she'll come in the future and know.
And then lastly we were in a lesson with a recent convert named Librada (literally the best member in our branch and she was baptized 4 weeks ago) and she asked us "So Im kinda teaching someone the lessons is that ok?" We were like "what? Of course that's OK!!" She's good family friends with this family and is teaching the 14 yr old daughter all the lessons. We asked if she would like us to come with her and she said of course so we went and met Milena. A super cool 14 yr old who is looking for more in her life. We taught her about the restoration and the Book of Mormón and she loved it. She came to church and brought her dad and her little cousin. In young women's class she was sharing with the girls writing on the board and participating like crazy and at the end she asked all of the YW to have their phone numbers so that she can be in contact with them. Literally super cool.
This week was awesome we found a lot of people that are progressing and it's super exciting. I love the work I love Itá and I love all of you guys.
