When the Tin Roof Gets to Talkin'....That's the Worst Sleep We Had...

Image
How's it going everyone? This week was pretty sweet a lot of cool stuff happened for sure.  Just starting off I'll address the title, this week we had some serious rain storms like it was pretty ridiculous. And all the roofs around here are either tile or tin and lucky us, ours is tin. So when it rains really hard it is SUPER loud almost to the point where I have to yell to talk to my comp. So sleeping during those storms is definitely a treat haha. But it's all good because the rain is awesome. I love walking around in it.  One night was so bad that when we woke up in the morning we didn't have power or water. The storm knocked down a bunch of power lines and some how stopped the water from working too. So it was kinda a bummer to wake up and not be able to shower or see. We did all our studies and left the house smelling not great haha. And it turns out that it basically the entire city was without power and water as well. When we came back that evening for lunch we h...

Hello once again everyone, this week was really fun. A lot of fun stuff happened and the week honestly flew by. Starting off it was Fathers Day yesterday, so happy fathers day dad, thank you for everything that you have taught me and all you've done for me. I have no doubt I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for you. Love you dad.  One of the things my dad instilled in me is a ridiculous amount of competitive spirit. So one day before we taught this family one of the kids was messing around doing pullups. And this kid usually doesn't participate in our lessons with us. He goes into another room and doesn't listen or add anything. So asked him if he wanted to have a pull up competition and then if he lost, he had to participate a little or at least listen to our lesson. The kid agreed thinking there was no way he could lose. Little did he know because of how competitive I am, I would rather die than lose this competition haha. So to make a long story sh...

This week was super fun, lots of good stuff happened. Starting off this week I bought a soccer jersey, here in Paraguay there are two big teams: Cerro and Olympia, I bought an Olympia Jersey because it looked super cool. It's white and black and looks pretty clean. I'll have to send a picture of it.  Also, last week we were walking around teaching people here in this neighborhood and we saw this family out shoveling dirt and moving it around their yard by using buckets to transport the dirt. So naturally we asked if we could help. They said no because they didn't want us to get our white shirts and nice clothes dirty. I told them that it doesn't matter and to hand over the shovel. In this life I may not be good at much but I will say that I do know how to use a shovel haha. These guys couldn't stop laughing at this white guy all dressed up getting filthy in some red dirt. We had a lot of fun helping these guys and then shared a little message with them about who we ...

This week was definitely one for the books, a lot of good stuff happened.  Starting off, I got my first Paraguayan haircut and while the guy was cutting my hair we were talking about everything but he was especially interested in American politics. I find it interesting how many people here are so interested in American politics and other things.  Just goes to show that America truly is the best haha. But he also said that I looked like Leonardo DiCaprio so I was absolutely hyped. But then he cut off my DiCaprio hair and later I was told by my family that I looked like an egg, so the haircut really did me wonders.  B ut then some lady still told me it was too long at church haha. Can’t win.  On Tuesday we went to Lucio's house. He was the guy that came to church by walking for an hour. He said we didn't have to come because of how far away he lived. We told him not to worry about it and we would be there. (We imagined it would only be like a 40 mi...
