Built A House...
This week was pretty sweet, filled with lots of cool stuff.
On Tuesday I had the coolest service project I've had my whole mission. We heard from the Elders in Rama 2 (another branch in our zone) that they have a part member family who needs some help. And that's really all they told us. I knew this family because one time on divisions I went and talked with them. They are some of the most humble people I know. A family of 4 living in a 4 by 6 foot house, and I'm not kidding. So the Elders Quorum of Rama 2 got together and decided they were gonna build them a house. So we got invited, it was one of the coolest things and low key one of the sketchyest because the method of building down here is nowhere near safe. I feel like one really strong windy day and chou to the house. But we listened to the way they wanted it done and did it. After a whole bunch of hammers and nails we got all the walls put on and the roof ready for the tin that's gonna go on top. It was so sweet plus we got to work with some super funny dudes and honestly it was one of the best days.
After that we had divisions with the APs which was really fun. We found some new people, taught some lessons, had a good time. All normal stuff until the night came and one of the APs went to use our bathroom but on the way out the door wouldn't open. The handle would move but it wouldn't pull the pin out of the wall, so he had to climb through a super tiny window and then to get back into the bathroom we just broke the door down. So later this week we got a guy coming to give us a new door.
After that, Thursday was all normal a good solid day. I got my 3rd dose of the vaccine and I felt great the whole day. Until I went to bed and woke up like 100 times during the night. I woke up Friday with a mad fever and stuff like that but igual no más we needed to do divisions in Villarrica, like 2 hours from where we're at. One of the elders there can cook and I mean he cooks. When we got there for lunch he had made phili cheese steaks with homemade buns and everything. It was pretty amazing and he also made a cheesecake for us. So needless to say the divisions were amazing. Except when it came to actually doing the work. We walked like 45 minutes to get to where we needed to be and taught some people but mainly just got rejected and fought a lot with some catholics. But other than that it was a great day, especially because it ended with a quinceanera. Also, as we were walking to the quinceanera we saw this old dude doing some yard work so we went and helped him. We ended up cutting down a massive tree with an axe. The dude kept cracking up and at 2 young Americans working for him and helping him. He was a super funny dude and we had a great time with him.
On Saturday we came home and started talking to Liliana whose date to be baptized was this Sunday, and she wanted to push it back again. We talked to her and answered all of her questions and she got baptized on Sunday. It was a super great time and always a blast watching someone get baptized.
So after we talked to Liliana on Saturday and she decided that yeah she'll get baptized on Sunday. We had to go clean and fill the font. On the way to do so we passed by this guy who said he talked to missionaries before and knows a lot about the church. We told him that after we clean the font we'll come back and talk to him. So we went and cleaned and the whole time thinking this dude was straight gold, we wants to talk to us, he talked to missionaries before, he knows and has been to the church before. Couldn't be any better than this. So we go and talk to him and start sharing about the faith. And he somehow finds a way to segue what we are talking about to something completely different. He starts going off about our branch president and using some very strong words to describe him and his wife and just gets very upset and the whole time he's saying, "now I don't know if you can understand me because we speak different languages". And then my comp and I keep saying that I we understand but it doesn't matter because he just wants to keep going off. He claims he knows everything about the church and how incorrect people are and continues using really offensive words haha. We kinda just sat there trying to find a way out but the only way out was through so we just listened and listened and then when he was done I stood up and said thanks but we need to leave and we got out of there. Definitely a fun time haha.
This week was pretty normal nothing too crazy but definitely always seeing miracles out here.
Love all of you guys
