Red Zones and Knives...

This week my city San Ignacio (yes like Nacho Libre and there is also a city called Encarnacion) so ya pretty sure the whole movie was based out of Paraguay. But anyway, my city got placed into a red zone which means we cannot go out and talk to people in person and we cannot meet in people homes anymore. So all of our work is done via the phone right now.

A couple interesting things happened this week. One night we were walking home and we passed this house that we always pass on our way home and we saw this group of teenagers and we said hi to them and talked a little bit about the music they were playing. Then we turned the corner to go home and all of the sudden these two guys jump the fence and are all up in our faces. It was quite the ride especially not understanding much of what they were saying. One guy definitely had a knife in his pocket but never pulled it out on us. It all boiled down to the fact that their egos are super fragile and they thought we were trying to steal their girlfriends. It was quite the experience.

Apart from that not much happened because of the restrictions. Which hopefully will end on May 10th.  We'll see.  We taught a couple people via phone but most people don't answer their phones anyway. I swear South Americans run on another time schedule. They do everything very slowly. Like eating lunch they take a full hour or more... And I'm just sitting over there done in 15 minutes waiting for 45 minutes for these guys to finish. The American in me is dying to be waiting that long.

I eat of lot of this stuff called milanesas is like a giant chicken nugget. In the pictures it looks like a plate of fish and chips. It's super good and probably my favorite dish here.

I’m going to go buy some rain boots today.  More like mucking boots.  The mud here is crazy. There really is no way to avoid it.

If anyone wants to email me feel free I love to hear from home and about peoples lives.

Love you all

We watched for like an hour, not much else we could do with the restrictions, and they couldn't get it unstuck.  I was itching to get in the excavator and help them out.
A park near our house where we go to be outside.  At least with the restrictions we can still be outside, just not meeting with people or street contacting.

My companion is super into a card game called Magic the Gathering.  It's wack.  He doesn't have much motivation to do much, he goes home in three weeks.

While my comp was sporting his cards for like 2 HOURS, I started building houses of cards.  Super productive. This being stagnant all week in killing me.  You can only study so much.
What I eat just about everyday because it's the only thing good on the menu.  It's called milaneses. It's like breaded chicken basically like a big chicken nugget.  We eat out a lot because it's super cheap and our kitchen and hot plate are not super easy to cook on.
The Catholic church in our area.
Our church.  You can definitely tell who is the humble religion in this area.

My laundry room.  I am convinced that my dad got his big forearms from washing laundry on his mission, not from hauling chickens as a teenager like he always said. This is no joke.

This is called lomita pizza.  It's pretty good.  The cup that look like milk is a garlic cream sauce. They put it on everything here.

Ava here you go.
