Milagro...
This week was a lot more relaxed than last week. We had a good time having a couple of days to really get out there and work. It's kinda weird though because we're in a companionship of 4 elders because I'm training and I still have my old comp but there is also a missionary that broke his ankle who is here with us recuperating. So everyday we take turns baby sitting as we like to call it. Where two of us can go out and work in the streets and the other has to stay back to be with the broken ankle man.
Obviously being in the streets is the absolute best, there's nothing better. And babysitting gets kinda old after the first 2 hours so we had to find ways to keep occupied. I took up baking and baked some chocolate crinkle cookies or at least that's what I'm told they are called. Burned a couple of the first batch but then they came out really nice. Also I have been writing some essays for college and eating more than I should.
I love Paraguay. I love how nobody in Paraguay ever thinks about what they're doing. This week they started to reroof our chapel just when there was a gigantic storm coming through. It was no secret that the storm was coming, but they still decided to take the roofing tiles off. So one day I woke up and it's raining a ton, I thought to myself oh shoot, because just the night before they were taking off the tiles above the rooms where we have all of our materials. Like Books of Mormon, all of the pamphlets to teach the lessons, our TV that we use for everything. I ran to the church to find the workers huddled inside the church trying to keep out of the rain. And with a broom they were sweeping out all of the water that was leaking into the chapel. I should have taken a picture but I forgot. It was A LOT of water coming down the walls, pouring in from the ceiling. And just on the other side of the wall is where we store everything. We have like 5000 copies of the Book of Mormon and a bunch of other stuff. I was certain that they were going to be wrecked. I opened the door, to see everything completely dry, not even a drop. I don't know how or why but it was a straight miracle. All of the workers were very confused on how it happened but everything was perfectly fine.
After that we also had 2 zone conferences this week. So we were prepping for that, getting all of the rooms ready, ordering lunch for everyone, and making sure everything happened smoothly. They were some great conferences and definitely learned a lot and I hope to never forget the stuff I learned. One of the craziest things was that a couple of missionaries came up and said "hey Schof can we take a picture, this is the last time I'm gonna see you". It didn't even cross my mind but it's true this would be the last time that I could see a lot of my good friends here in the mission. I can't believe it, it's really sad, and really weird. I've made some incredible friends here, people that have impacted my life and to know that I won't be able to see them for a long while is kind of unsettling.
I love all of the experiences that I have lived through in the mission and I'm grateful to have one more month to really live it up. To continue these experiences and live through new ones. I love you guys.
