21...

Hey what's up, this week was really cool and really hot.

We've been heatin up down here, the closer we get to Christmas the less it feels like Christmas, with 115 degree heat and like 3000% humidity it's really interesting. But the mission is still fantastic and I love every minute of it. This week we had one of the biggest holidays here in Paraguay which would be Virgin day. Or The Virgin of Caacupe day which also happens to be my birthday. So everyone wanted to celebrate, it's definitely a special day. Thousands of people make the pilgrimage to Caacupe (a city in the middle of Paraguay). Most People go by bus but there are also a lot of people that walk. And it's actually kinda crazy because it's 115 degrees and all of the sudden some 90 year old grandpa decides to walk more than he did in the entire past year, and there were a lot of people that had heat exhaustion and heart attacks and passed away on the side of the road. So it's definitely a crazy day. We took the missionaries out of Caacupe so that they wouldn't have to be in the city when like half the country was there.

But my birthday was cool, thank you all for sending me messages Love you guys. It was super interesting. In Paraguay the Missionaries are famous and people when they drive by will always roll down their window and yell something at us, generally has something to do with Jesus or Joseph Smith or something but today I heard a new one, some dude rolled on by, rolls his window down and yells COCAINE and then zooms off. I love these people. After that our recent convert Rosa invited us to eat dinner at her house to celebrate my birthday. So I baked the cake that Mom sent me and we went. Just thinking that it would be my comp and I and a couple of people, but we got there and a bunch of members were also there, it was super sweet. They threw a surprise party and we had a good time. The Funfetti cake was definitely a hit, Thanks Mom.

This week we also recognized that we need to really put an emphasis on finding new people to teach. So we were thinking about where to go and where we should contact. And we felt like we should go to a part of our area where we generally don't work that much because it's the super rich part of our area. And we hardly ever get let in there. But we felt like that´s where we needed to go, so we went. For the first couple of days we didn't find anyone but we kept at it and like the fourth day came around and we found a bunch of people, probably one of the most successful days in my mission, every house let us in. We found a Buddhist lady which was kinda crazy because literally everyone here is Christian. But we talked to her and she is going through some hard times so we asked if we could share a little and she let us. We talked a lot about the Plan of Salvation and how it applies to her situation and everything that she is going through and she really love it. She said that she wants to go to church with us and see how it is. Later we also found another family where we talked about the Restoration and they really loved it as well. We gave them a Book of Mormon and that same night they started reading it. Which is always awesome to see because everyone here accepts the Book the Mormon when we give them out, but like nobody actually reads. So when someone explains what they have been reading it's amazing.

We also found this security guard and started teaching him. He told us that after we had taught him he wanted to get to know a little more about who Joseph Smith was. So he looked him up on YouTube and right as he said that I was like "oh great here we go." My comp looked at me thinking the same thing. But then the guy said yeah it was like an hour and a half long video called the Prophet of the Restoration. He watched the entire Restoration movie, and really enjoyed it. We were stoked to hear that. But he's also progressing pretty good. We're really happy with all that's going on here in the area and the success that the Lord always gives us when we really get to work.

Love you guys,
Easton
