La Gira...
This week was crazy, we had the Gira or in other words the mission tour.
Last Sunday we finished the meetings in church, loaded up the van and started our drive over to Ciudad del Este. 5 hours later we got there, dropped President and the senior couples off at a hotel and went to go sleep the night in the apartment of some missionaries. The next morning we got to spend with the missionaries there in Ciudad del Este. It was super cool we went to the market which is like Time Square but Paraguayan style. I bought a military grade laser and some new proselyting shoes all for less than $15. It's a win for me.
After that the next morning we had zone conference with all the missionaries there. It was super cool, it's the same zone conference that I've heard 3 times before but it's pretty amazing because every time I listen I learn something new.
The zone conferences are super cool because all before and after we're running so fast to get everything in order and make sure that all the missionaries are there and ready and then after that they can get back to their areas on time and not miss their busses. We're running, running, running and then during the conference it's just like taking a deep breath and relaxing for a couple hours. It's like everything that's going on around us just kinda stops and we get to enjoy what's going on. I don't know how to really explain it well but it's a really cool feeling.
After that we hit the road again down to Encarnación, it was super sweet because it was the first time that I've ever driven that road. So I got to see some new countryside. After that we got together with the missionaries down there and then the same thing. The next morning we had zone conference with them. It's always a great time to see the homies again. I've made friends in this mission that will be my friends forever, I have no doubt about that.
After zone conference we started the long road back home to Asunción, it's a 7 hour drive but we had to stop every once in a while in order for President to do some interviews with the missionaries along the way. So it took like 10 hours to get back.
But one of the places we had to stop was San Ignacio, which was incredible. That's where I started my mission. I lived there for 6 months, it's where I learned Spanish, where I learned how to be a missionary, and one of the most beautiful places in Paraguay. I asked President if he would let me go visit some people that I know and he said "you have 25 minutes while I'm doing interviews after that we gotta go" so we went to see some people that I knew. It's been almost exactly a year since I've seen them and it was one of the coolest reunions ever. I hope I get to go back again.
It was a crazy week that absolutely flew by but I loved every second of it.
Love you guys
