Hey, how's it going? This week passed by so quickly it's super weird to already be writing another email. But it was a super cool week with a lot of stuff going on.
On Monday, we sent 3 Americans back to their homes, they finished their missions and then the majority of the latinos that were also going home were picked up by their parents in the office. It was kind of weird to see some of the homies go but it's all good I'll see them again someday. Then that night all of the missionaries that had transfers came in from far away so I went to pick them up from the bus terminal and get them all dinner and all ready to go the following day for their transfers. This same night we were looking over the flight plans for a sister that was going home to Bolivia, we noticed that she flies into Buenos Aires but then leaves Buenos Aires from a different airport. Which means that she would have to leave the one airport, grab a taxi or something and make her way to the other airport all alone with no phone. I didn't want her to have to do that, so at like 11:00 I was talking to all of the travel agents that we use as well as the manager for all missionary travels in South America but nobody could help me. I called President Faundez and he told me to send him the manager's number and that I should go to bed haha. We did get her a private transfer arranged to the different airport, so that made me feel better.
The next morning was the day of transfers so I got everything organized like it needed to be and then I had to leave. I told my buddies how it needs to play out and the travel plans for everyone and then I left because we had 3 new missionaries arriving in the airport at the same time. We got to the airport at 9:50 and picked up 3 new missionaries, helped them with their visas and brought them back to the office. Then took everyone to the bus terminal and helped the majority of everyone get onto their buses and on their way to their new areas.
Then I had to pick up all of the new trainers that were coming in that same night for the training that they received the following day. I left them in the office and went back to the airport at midnight to get 11 new missionaries all from the states. It was super cool to talk to a bunch of new missionaries and help them out with their visas and getting them into the country and making good friends with them. We got home at like 3am after everything was said and done and I fell asleep super quick. Then got up at 6 the following day to start all of their paperwork for the medical tests they needed to do that same day. I couldn't do it earlier because I needed their passports but it's all good. I got all of that done and then took them to the hospital to get their blood drawn and then we stopped by the temple to take some pictures.
After that we had the training for the trainers and the new missionaries which is always super cool because President Faundez doesn't speak any english so translating for him is always a good time. We had a really good training and then went to the mission home to eat some really good hamburgers and take advantage of doing interviews with all the new missionaries and translating the interviews. It's really interesting to see the way that President works and does each interview because they are all different and you can tell that he is following the spirit in every single one.
After that we got all the new missionaries to their new areas with their trainers. This week the doctor and psychologist of the area also came to our mission and wanted to give a presentation to the whole mission. So we got it all set up so that the zones close to us here in Asuncion would come in person and then we did zoom for the ones further away. It was a super cool presentation, kinda a bunch of stuff that we already knew but it will serve a bunch of missionaries for good. Spending time with the doctor and psychologist was also super cool. I had the opportunity to drive them to their hotel a couple of times and talk to them, they are super great people who retired from their professional work to come on a mission and do the same thing that they were doing just for free haha.
But the most important thing that happened this week was that our friend Rosa committed to being baptized this Sunday before sacrament meeting. She's the best and generally knows everything she needs to know and is excited to make a covenant with God. We were going over kind of reviewing everything with her and while we were reviewing she was teaching her friend who she invited in straight guarani all of the things that we were talking about. It was absolutely incredible.
Sorry for the giant email, I didn't have time to write in my journal this week and I don't want to forget this stuff so here ya go haha.
Love you guys
Easton
