Crazy Week...
This week was insane but also a great one.
First of all we had transfers so my comp left and my new companion Elder Pearce got here. And there is another Elder in my zone who is waiting for his new companion to get here but he comes in on Wednesday so for the past week we've been living the trío life, which is always fun.
Just like the rest of the world the gas prices are absolutely insane so naturally the people want to protest to drop the prices. Well briliant people of Paraguay think the best way to do that is to close all major highways. Anyone that owns a semi or dump truck drove up and blocked the highways. Still not sure how this is supposed to help drop gas prices but... that's Paraguay. So it's been a blast trying to cover my area as well as the area of temporary comp when we can't travel to and from the areas.
But something super cool about this week is that we had 3 baptisms. One in Yaguaron the area of my temporary comp and two in my area. We were so stoked but whenever there is a baptism it seems like the whole world is against you. Nothing ever goes right. For the baptism in Yaguaron we went the night before to clean and fill the font. As we were leaving we heard a massive explosion and we looked up to the power line freaking out. Then a little bit after that the power line caught on fire. In Paraguay the power poles are concrete but the cross bars where they connect the lines are wooden. So this cross beam started on fire. We called the electric people and they didn't really care, so we called the police and they showed up with the fire department. They stood there for like 15 mins just watching what was happening and decided they couldn't do anything about it and left. Thank you so much first responders. After that the wooden cross beam burnt in half and fell so the power lines fell to the next cross beam with another explosion and more fire. We were worried that it was going to catch the tree on fire and then burn down the whole backyard of the church. So we sat and watched for a bit. After a while of huge sparks and fire and crazy strong electric current it kinda relaxed, continued to arc to a piece of metal but nothing was burning so we went home to sleep.
We had a baptism the next morning. So we got up early and went to check on the font and it was empty, don't know how but somehow it drained. But it didn't go through the actual drain I think it just seeped in between the tiles and drained like that. So we refilled it and once it was full, the city cut the water. But it was all good because it was full. But it started draining again and we had no clue why. So we called everyone to the baptism asap because if not there's no way to fill the font again. So we had the baptism and it was super cool great experience. Moral of the story: when you're about to do something really good the entire world will be against you to stop you from doing it. Butttt if you keep persisting it's always possible.
After that we went to Itá to have the other baptism the same day which was awesome, some stuff went wrong as always but in the end two super cute little girls were baptized. An experience I'll never forget.
It was a crazy week full of obstacles but super fun getting through all of them, never been happier in my life, never seen the hand of the Lord so many times. I love all of you guys.
