No Hay Virtud...
Hey everyone. How's it going? This week was pretty sweet, a lot of stuff happened. I hope everyone is doing well!!
This week started off with a baptism, there's a city in our zone called Paraguarí and they had a baptism there. So we traveled down to help celebrate and help this little kid feel great for being baptized. His name is Clever and the dude is hilarious. We became best friends from the second that we met. He's a 9 year old kid but one of the funniest little dudes out there. We started hanging out and making sure that everything was ready for the baptism. Some hermanas made brownies other elders made some cake. It was a super fun time and even better because we got to celebrate his baptism together.
Also, while there the hermanas from the Paraguarí branch asked us for a favor. They asked my comp and I if we could give a blessing to one of the members, his wife has cancer, and is in the hospital and this guy is just down, doesn't know where to go or where to turn for help. He hasn't been to church in years but wanted to come to the baptism. My companion and I had the opportunity to give him a blessing and it was one of the most spiritual experiences I've had to far. Afterwards he was crying. We were tearing up and he stood up and gave me a huge hug. I've never met this guy before in my life but the amount of love that I felt for him in this moment was unreal. The true love of Christ. Yesterday after church the hermanas in Paraguarí called us and told us that he came back to church for the first time in years. And it was one of the best things to hear. I've never been so happy.
After that we headed up to Asunción. We went up there for a conference with President. Us and the Hermanas that we share the area with headed on up. But here's the deal, because I'm a lot closer to Asunción we don't use the massive double decker busses to travel anymore. We use these rinky dinky busses that are falling apart with massive holes in the floor. All while the driver is constantly red lining the engine. It's a great time. But this is where the title comes into play. It's an inside joke with our zone that no hay virtud (there is no virtue). These busses get so packed. You are just sardined in there with no other option. And normally we give up our seats to old lady's so they can sit down but it's quite a blast. But the best part is trying to get off, because you're in the middle of a wall of people but you gotta get off so you just start walking and pushing and hoping that a gap opens up. We missed our stop not because we didn't know where to get off but because we literally couldn't get off haha and that's where the title comes into play.
After a great time in Asunción we came back home and worked in our area. We had a great time meeting new people and teaching a bunch of lessons. Also this week we had a capilla abierta (open chapel) basically an open house. This lady put it all together with a bunch of banners and everything explaining what goes on in the chapel. So we went down to help out with that. And it was a great time. My comp and I had the job to greet people as they came in. The only issue was no one came in. So after like 10 minutes we went out looking for people to invite and it was going really well until the weather turned. The wind picked up and then the rain came. We were running around the streets in pouring rain talking to literally everyone we could see and inviting them to the chapel. But if you know Paraguay you know that when it rains the people don't do anything. So we searched for people that had cars so that they could drive themselves there without getting wet. And even then they aways had an excuse. We probably talked to like 300 people and not one of them wanted to come. Low key a bummer but it's all good. We ran back to the chapel hoping that someone had showed up just to find all the members and the other missionaries chowing down on some food haha. So we joined had some good food and then went on home.
It was a really good time we definitely had some fun it's just too bad nobody wanted to come. All in all this week flew by. I feel like I literally just wrote one of these. We had week full of things to do and full of miracles.
I hope you guys have a great week
Love you all
